Knock Knock by Buck Bowen
Knock Knock is a joke brought to life – repeated, familiar, then unexpectedly changed. Just when they think they know where it’s going, things take a turn!
You hold a packet of cards, tapping the top one like a door. “Knock Knock?” you say. They reply, “Who’s there?” “Banana,” you respond, as you slide out a card showing a banana.
Then you put it back. Then you do it again. And again. And again! Each time it’s the same: A banana!
By the fourth time, everyone thinks they know where this is going. They brace themselves for the inevitable, “Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?”
But you switch it up and say, “Mandarin.” They reply curiously, “Mandarin who?” And just like that – out pops a real Mandarin! with every banana card now showing an orange instead!
That’s the moment they realize they never saw it coming.
Knock Knock doesn’t end after one performance – it weaves seamlessly into your set with multiple phases.**
Each time you restart the joke, spectators laugh, then wonder, “Wait… is it the same?” – it’s not.
One time, “Mandarin” becomes “Banananana,” revealing a bat symbol before a Lego Batman with a banana. Another time, you cut the joke short, only to hit with a surprise punchline.
There’s a Birthday version for shared celebration and even a phase that Rick Rolls your audience in real life.
Every phase feels familiar yet plays with expectations in a fresh way.
Knock Knock isn’t just a trick – it’s a playful thread running through your performance, keeping audiences engaged, entertained, and always guessing what’s next!
**Deluxe Set required to perform multiple phases.
*Mandarin not included. You don’t need it, but you’ll want it. Like Cups & Balls without a final load, the best surprise is the one they never see coming.
